The purpose of the SPC Tri Beta National Biological Honor Society is to provide information and resources to lower and upper division SPC students who have a specific goal in the scientific field of biology. These opportunities will help students to further explore and pursue their majors and to encourage a positive literacy of biology to the local community. These goals shall be accomplished through a variety of on-campus activities, including, but not limited to: formal lectures, poster symposiums, panel discussions, careers in biology programs, off-campus trips to educational and volunteer events directly related to the field of biology. The club meets every semester (Fall, Spring and Summer) on the Clearwater Campus of Saint Petersburg College.
We have recently become a chapter in Beta Beta Beta in the National Biological Honor Society. Tri-Beta is a society for students, particularly undergraduates, dedicated to improving the understanding and appreciation of biological study and the extending boundaries of human knowledge through scientific research. Since its founding in 1922, more than 200,000 persons have been accepted into lifetime membership, and more than 553 chapters have been established throughout the United States and Puerto Rico.
Our goal is simple! We want students to succeed by matriculating into the graduate school of their choice and becoming a valuable contributor to their profession and community. SPC's chapter of Tri Beta National Biological Honor Society is a community of students dedicated to this cause. Our organization is determined in the process of being able to provide each member with the set of resources and tools they need to meet their goal.
